An ancient brotherhood of mages, spies in the pay of foreign powers, mysterious esoteric entities, conspirators working to bring down the Emperor, a Russian sect of worshippers of a bloodthirsty god... Each plays their part in this epic tale, some to prevent the world from sinking into darkness, others to plunge it there.
